Akpom is expected to sign a four-year contract with the French side Lens. Middlesbrough decided to cash in on the forward to avoid losing the striker for free next summer according to French news outlet, L’equipe. The Forward was the top scorer in the Championship last season and was named player of the year. He guided Middlesbrough to Championship playoff but they failed to gain promotion to the Premier League.
