Chuba Akpom scored the only goal to hand Middlesbrough all the three points against Luton Town in Wednesday’s Championship game.
Akpom has now scored three goals for the club since his arrival at Riverside Stadium from PAOK Salonika last July.
The 25-year-old who was starting his 11th league match, scored in the 52nd minute and it proved enough to secure all the points at stake for his side.
He converted from a nice from English midfielder Marvin Johnson.
Boro however ended the match with 10-men after Sam Morsy was given a straight red card for deliberately handling the ball in the penalty area.
Luton Town were awarded a penalty but James Collins stepped forward and failed to covert his effort.
Akpom was replaced in the 77th minutes by Congolese forward Britt Assombalonga.
