The Super Eagles Coaches need not fret over the injuries and unavailability of first choice goalie, Carl Ikeme unless his deputies fail to step their game up, former player and goal keeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu has said.Since earning his first cap for Nigeria, Ikeme, 30, has missed three competitive matches due to injury ; including crucial qualifying matches against Egypt and Algeria, but Shorunmu insists reserve goal keepers Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa need assurances from the Coaches to boost confidence.
Shorunmu, who earned 36 caps playing for Nigeria, stressed the need for Akpeyi and Ezenwa to get more game time under the belt, make errors and learn from such to grow into goal tenders that will build healthy competition in that position of the team.
