Ajayi tames Dennis as West Brom and Watford shares the spoil at the Hawthorns

Nigeria’s Super Eagles players Semi Ajayi and Emmanuel Dennis started for West Bromwich and Watford respectively in their Championship clash on Monday at the Hawthorns.

Ajayi was at the heart of West Brom’s defense and did a good job to stop Emmanuel Dennis from getting a goal for Watford.

While Ajayi played the entire duration of the game, Dennis was substituted with 8 minutes left to play.

Another Nigerian on the payroll of Watford, William Troost-Ekong came on late on in the game, while Maduka Okoye didn’t feature at all.

Watford went in front after a shot from midfield by Ismaila Sarr catches the goalkeeper off guard and Sarr scored one of those anthology goals.

West Bromwich leveled on the stroke of halftime when Grant’s precise shot went into the net after several insinuations.

Watford however had the chance to win it with 18 minutes left to play. Semi Ajayi fouled Ismaila Sarr’s box and the referee didn’t hesitate before pointing to the penalty spot.

The Senegalese dusted himself and took the kick, but West Bromwich Albion’s goalkeeper saved it with ease.

The Baggies dominated from that moment to the end, but Watford held on to secure a point as the game ended in a 1-1.
