Ajax Amsterdam manager Francesco Farioli has expressed strong support for striker Chuba Akpom, despite the player’s recent struggles in front of goal.

Akpom, who has failed to score in his last four league appearances, continues to impress Farioli with his dedication and work ethic on the pitch.

Farioli, speaking about the 28-year-old forward, highlighted Akpom’s commitment to the team’s overall performance.

“Yes, everything comes together. The mentality, the spirit, the attention to detail,” the Italian coach remarked.

“That applies to Chuba; the work he does for the team is incredible. That is something that may not be relevant to you, but for me, it is priceless.”

Akpom joined Ajax for a reported fee of €12 million and, after a challenging start in Amsterdam, has contributed 15 goals and three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his recent goal drought, Farioli’s confidence in Akpom remains unwavering as the team navigates the early stages of the new season.

Akpom started Ajax’s Europa League second win over Panathinaikos on Thursday.
