Liverpool legend, Patrik Berger recently revealed his admiration for former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
Berger hailed Aiyegbeni as the best African player he had the privilege to play alongside.
The former Czech Republic Midfielder played in Portsmouth for a two-year period from the 2003 to 2005 season.
Speaking about their time together in the Premier, Berger described the Aiyegbeni as a “great guy”.
“Well, I played in Portsmouth for two years and I played with Yakubu, at the time, he was a young lad coming to our team,” the former Midfielder told BRL.
“Portsmouth just got promoted to the Premier League and Harry Redknapp brought a lot of experienced players like, Teddy Sheringham, Me, Steve Stone, and obviously we brought also young talents. Yakubu was one of them.
“Yakubu was humble the way he played. A great goal scorer, very strong, and great guy to be around.”
“He was always smiling; he got a smile on his face every single day, you know 365 days, all the time. He was happy, never negative, he is a great guy.
“Sometimes I’m in touch with him on Instagram, I know he lives in the UK, so he was a great guy and great player.”
