Aina Confident in Super Eagles’ Future with Finidi
201
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has expressed confidence that the national team will give their all in the upcoming games under new coach Finidi George.
Aina played a crucial role in Nigeria’s defence and was instrumental in their run to the finals at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, featuring in all seven games.
However, he missed the March international break due to injury and was absent for Finidi’s first two games in charge as interim coach – against Ghana and Mali.
“What is on my mind is to win and progress and also to welcome the new coach. The appointment of the coach is good for the team and the nation,” Aina stated.
Nigeria will host South Africa on June 7 in their third World Cup qualifying game.
The three-time African champions have yet to record a win in the qualifiers and are currently third in the table, having drawn their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
