Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, both part of the Super Eagles, made their comeback after a three-week injury absence.
These two players had been sidelined due to injuries during this month’s international assignments.
However, they returned to action in Nottingham Forest’s Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Their return is a relief for Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe next month.
Wth the duo back to full fitness, there is still uncertainty over the availability of several key players Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze, and defender Semi Ajayi.
The players are suffering from different injuries and could miss out of these important doubleheaders.
Nigeria’s campaign will kick off with a home game against the Lesotho Crocodiles before heading to face the Zimbabwean Warriors.
