Kano Pillars have been fined two million naira following comments made by Ahmed Musa after the club’s defeat to Nasarawa United on Sunday.

Musa was unhappy with the officiating after his side lost 1-0.

The Winger said after the game: “I’ve been praising the officiating and progress in the league up until now, but the performance of the officials in this Matchday 9 game (Nasarawa United 1-0 Kano Pillars) makes me question if returning to play in the NPFL was the right choice.”

He continued, “For the league to improve, we need to address the quality of officiating. Officials should not be allowed to diminish the players’ morale and efforts. If I keep witnessing such officiating, I cannot encourage anyone to return to the NPFL. It would be a waste of our efforts if this continues.”

However, the league organizers found Musa’s statement unacceptable and charged his club, Kano Pillars, for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules during their Matchday 9 fixture against Nasarawa United.

They stated that his comments could bring the game into disrepute.

Kano Pillars has been fined one million naira for misconduct likely to bring the game into disrepute and another one million naira for improper conduct of their players and officials during the match.

The club reserves the right to appeal the sanctions within 48 hours from the date of notification.
