Ahmed Musa Sticks it to Super Eagles Teammates

Super Eagles veteran Ahmed Musa expressed concern over the varying levels of pressure experienced by foreign-born players compared to their locally-based counterparts following disappointing performances.

Musa emphasized the need for a mindset shift among the players, urging them to fully commit and contribute to the national team’s efforts.

The Super Eagles have faced mounting pressure from both media and fans in light of their lackluster start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Having played to a 1-1 draw against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their first two qualifying matches, the team is grappling with heightened expectations as they strive to reclaim their form in the upcoming fixtures.

“I love the country, so when we play, I know I have families back home and I know the pressure they feel when we lose,” Musa said. “So I give everything so that my family don’t get insulted when we lose.”

“But, the players we have now, they don’t leave in Nigeria, so they don’t know that anger that most of us who have families in Nigeria feel when we lose games,” He said.

Musa has been left out Jose Peseiro’s squad for the past three matches.
