The Super Eagles have expressed their disappointment following an injury to striker Terem Moffi.
The Nigeria forward is expected to be sidelined for approximately nine months due to a cruciate ligament injury.
OGC Nice, Moffi’s French club, confirmed that the 25 year-old sustained the injury during training. He is set to undergo surgery this week.
“We wish our own Terem Moffi the quickest recovery after he sustained an ACL injury during preseason training. Get well soon Eagle,” read a statement on social media from the Super Eagles, and several of his teammates including Ahmed Musa were among those who reacted to the message.
OGC Nice also extended their support to the forward.
“Injured during training, Terem Moffi (25 years old) underwent additional tests today.
“These confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
“The Nigerian will be able to count on the unwavering support of the entire red and black family. Staff, teammates, Gym employees, and supporters will accompany him during his convalescence and wish him, in unison, a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself, Terem, you will come back stronger!”
Moffi joined Nice from Lorient in January 2023 and has since scored 20 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions for the Red and Black.
