Ex International Julius Aghahowa has admonished the NFF to give Jose Peseiro’s led technical crew enough time to build a new squad.
Peseiro was confirmed as the new Super Eagles boss on Sunday and the Portuguese will be assisted by Finidi George, Salisu Yusuf, Usman Abdallah and Ike Shorounmu.
The new technical crew replaced the Austin Eguavoen’s led consortium of coaches which failed to qualify Nigeria for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and they are expected to start their reign with the international friendlies against Ecuador and Mexico in the next few weeks.
In a chat with brila.net, Aghahowa stated that the new coaching crew should be given time to implement their ideas and should be allowed to build a new team that’ll the country for years.
“The target should be to build a formidable team, although some people might have different opinions, but I want to see a long time plans for this team to represent this country in many tournaments and you can’t do that by playing friendlies and after few poor results and then they get kicked out. That’s not how to do it”,
“You have to give the technical crew time. For example maybe four or five years, then you know what to expect. Not like after one tournament or qualifiers and you Kick the whole technical crew out when they don’t do well and bring in someone else. You aren’t going to progress that way.” He said.
