Age Scandal Rocks Camp of Nigeria’s U23 Eagles
60
Nigeria U23 Eagles head coach, Salisu Yusuf will be a worried man after a routine age verification uncovered that not less than 16 of the 30 players invited to camp had questionable age records.
On Monday the team resumed training ahead of the CAF U23 African Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea, and upon efforts of team officials to double check the age claims of the players it was discovered that 16 have used a different age at one time or the other.
For some the age difference was found on the transfer matching system while for others the difference were detected in official documents like their Voter’s cards and driver’s license.
Salisu Yusuf have just seven days to sort out the mess as Nigeria will host their Guinean counterparts on the 22nd of March, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
