Obiageri Amaechi secured the top spot for Team Nigeria in the women’s Discus Throw event at the African Games.

Amaechi soared to victory with an impressive Personal Best (PB) of 58.93 meters on her final throw of the night, clinching the coveted gold medal.

Not to be outdone, fellow Nigerian athlete Chioma Onyekwere showcased her determination by unleashing a powerful throw of 58.03 meters on her 5th attempt, earning her the silver medal.

Despite narrowly missing out on the podium, National Champion Ashley Anumba demonstrated her prowess with a commendable throw of 54.88 meters, finishing in 4th place.

The outstanding performances of these Nigerian athletes have have solidified Nigeria’s presence as a force to be reckoned with in the realm of athletics on the African continent.
