Nigerian boxers emerged triumphant at the African Games 2023, clinching an impressive eight gold medals in the boxing event held on Friday.

Out of the 10 Nigerian boxers who reached the final across various weight categories, only two settled for silver, solidifying Nigeria’s dominance in the sport on the continental stage.

A total of 11 boxers representing Nigeria at the 13th African Games, and each will return home with a medal.

Among the standout performers was Adams Olaore, who secured gold in the men’s 92+kg category, while Jacinta Umunnakwe, Blessing Orakwe, and Cynthia Ogunsemilore claimed victory in the women’s 81kg, 70kg, and 60kg categories, respectively.

Although Shukurat Kareem and Zainab Adeshina settled for silver in the women’s 54kg and 50kg categories, their commendable performances added to Nigeria’s overall success in the boxing event.
