Nigeria has surged back to the second spot on the medal table at the ongoing African Games in Ghana following a successful outing on Day 8.

After slipping to third place on Day 7, Nigeria’s athletes secured a total of seven medals, including one gold, five silver, and one bronze, propelling them ahead of South Africa and Algeria.

With a tally of 22 gold, 18 silver, and 20 bronze medals, Nigeria now sits comfortably in second place behind Egypt, which continues to lead the standings with an impressive haul of 76 gold, 31 silver, and 27 bronze medals.

South Africa, previously in second place, plummeted to fourth after failing to secure any medals on Day 8.
