Nigeria’s Chidi Okezie emerged victorious in the men’s 400-meter race at the African Games held in Accra, Ghana.
Okezie ran a personal best of 45.06 seconds in the final, marking the fastest time recorded by a Nigerian athlete in nearly a decade.
The race witnessed stiff competition, in a field that also had Zimbabwe’s Muzala Samukonga.
Samukonga secured the silver medal in a time of 45.37 seconds. Meanwhile, Diouf Cheick Tidiane from Sudan claimed the bronze medal, finishing with a time of 45.49 seconds.
Okezie’s triumph not only solidifies his status as a rising star in African athletics but also underscores Nigeria’s prowess on the continental stage.
