Home-based Eagles goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has rued Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Togo in Sunday’s WAFU cup of nations matchup in Senegal coming just after a week that the team got beaten 4-1 by the same opposition in the 2020 CHAN qualifiers.
Afelokhai speaking after the defeat to Togo blamed ill luck for his side’s loss stating that it was a game they created enough chances to have emerged victorious.
The Enyimba goalkeeper described the defeat as a very painful one especially losing to the same opposition in consecutive games.
“It was a very bad day and I never expect such result to repeat itself again that’s football but whoever watch the game will see that we really had hard luck.
We should have beaten them with nothing less than 5-2 but the game decided not to favour us again. And we pray that we get luck because this is what the Super Eagles team B is lacking. We hope to play better and have the luck to score. It’s a very painful thing that we lost again.”
