Glasgow Rangers forward, Cyriel Dessers says he would have loved to be in Nigerian squad for January’s African Cup of Nations.

Dessers was part of Coach Jose Peseiro’s initial 41 provisional list, but was left out of the final 25 made public on Friday.

The forward, along with OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi and Royale Antwerp star Yusuf Alhassan did not the cut, despite their recent good form for their respective clubs.

Dessers remains hopeful for a last-minute inclusion as the deadline approaches.

“That would be an honour, that is for sure. To be in the squad for a nation like Nigeria to go to a big tournament but at this moment, I am not focusing on that,” Dessers told reporters shortly before the list was made public.

Since switching allegiance to Nigeria, Dessers has made just four appearance for the Super Eagles and scored once.

Three of his four appearance came under Peseiro, although his last appearance was in a friendly against Algeria last year.
