AFCON Qualifiers: Every Match Is a Cup Final – Eguavoen Confident Ahead of Libya Clash

Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen has confidently declared that the team is fully prepared to take on Libya in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

The NFF recently confirmed that Eguavoen would continue as interim coach, a decision that follows his impressive performance in the last round of qualifiers.

Under his guidance, Nigeria secured a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo and played to a draw in Rwanda.

Now sitting at the top of their qualification group, Eguavoen is determined to maintain momentum as they face Libya in a crucial double-header.

Speaking on Brila FM in a no-holds-barred interview with Ifeanyi Udeze, he emphasized the significance of every match:

“We’re very ready. My bosses have asked me to continue, and I thank them and God for the opportunity. Up next is Libya, back-to-back.”

Eguavoen stressed that the team’s approach will remain focused and consistent, “We’ll approach the games the same way we did the last ones—one game at a time. For us, every match is like a cup final.”

Despite the challenges that lie ahead, Eguavoen remains confident in his team’s ability. “No game is easy, but we respect our opponents and will do everything possible to make sure we put smiles on the faces of Nigerians” he added.

The Super Eagles will face Libya on October 11, in Uyo, before traveling to Libya for the return leg four days later.
