Al-Feiha striker, Henry Onyekuru is making a strong case to secure a spot on Nigeria’s roster for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Onyekuru, 26, was part of the squad that finished third in 2019 edition held in Egypt, and 2021 edition in Cameroon.
Despite his absence from the national team, the Winger remains hopeful that his stellar performance for his club will catch the attention of Nigeria’s head coach, Jose Peseiro.
“I was there at the last AFCON in Cameroon, and I am really pushing to be there again,” Onyekuru told Arab News.
“In Nigerian football, there is still this negative mentality about the Saudi league – they don’t think it is as intense.
“But I think they should be able to see that now. The players who play here make it competitive. I am not giving up, and anything can happen.
