Super Eagles forward, Akor Adams announced his return to club football after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with a stunning two-goal cameo off the bench to rescue a point for Sevilla in a dramatic league clash against Elche.
Fresh from helping Nigeria secure AFCON 2025 bronze in Morocco, Adams continued with the fine form he has carried back from international duty.

Sevilla Stunned Early as Elche Take Control
Sevilla endured a difficult opening period and found themselves chasing the game early on.
Elche struck first in the 14th minute when Alex Febas broke the deadlock, capitalising on Sevilla’s slow start.
The hosts’ problems deepened shortly after the break as Germán Valera doubled Elche’s advantage in the 55th minute, leaving Sevilla staring at defeat.
With the game slipping away, Sevilla turned to their Nigerian forward.
Akor Adams Changed The Game’s Rhythm
Introduced in the second half, Adams immediately injected pace, aggression and belief into Sevilla’s attack.
The comeback began in the 75th minute, when Adams reacted fastest inside the penalty area to finish from close range, reducing the deficit and swinging the momentum.
Deep into stoppage time, Sevilla were handed a lifeline when Álvaro Rodríguez was penalized for handball inside the box.
Adams stepped forward with ice-cold composure.
The striker calmly dispatched the penalty into the top right corner, completing his brace and sealing a dramatic late equaliser for Sevilla.

Beyond the decisive goals, Adams delivered a strong all-round performance that highlighted his growing influence.

Following Nigeria’s third-place finish at AFCON 2025, Adams has spoken passionately about the Super Eagles’ achievement, insisting the bronze medal should not be underestimated.
Nigeria claimed third place after defeating Egypt on penalties, and Adams made it clear that while gold was the target, the outcome still carried pride.
“We came to AFCON aiming for gold. We didn’t get it, but we are proud of what we achieved,” Adams said.
“Don’t say it’s just a bronze medal like it’s simple. Some teams came here and went home with nothing.”
Unity, Growth and Eric Chelle’s Impact
Adams also highlighted the unity within the Super Eagles squad, describing a group that grew stronger on and off the pitch throughout the tournament.
“We are a very strong group. Everyone is going home with better friendships and as better people,” he said.
“In the last three weeks, we’ve grown a lot together.”
The forward reserved special praise for head coach Eric Chelle, crediting him for shaping the team and giving him the chance to represent Nigeria.
“We are all grateful to Eric Chelle for what he has done for us as a group,” Adams added.
“He made us better people and gave me the opportunity to represent my beloved Nigeria.”
Akor Adams also revealed that he dealt with a personal family situation during the tournament and expressed gratitude to CAF’s medical team for their support.
“Like every tournament, things happen along the way, and family issues are not separate from that,” he explained.
“We are grateful it wasn’t anything out of control, and I thank the CAF medical staff for taking care of her.”
“She is much better now, and I’m glad we experienced this together.”
