The Super Eagles have been placed in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Morocco, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Nigeria, seeded in Pot 1, avoided some of Africa’s top-ranked teams like Morocco and Senegal but will face a tough challenge in what is shaping up to be a competitive group.
The draw, conducted by the Confederation of African Football, CAF using its pot system, positions Nigeria in a group that will require top-notch performances to secure their fourth AFCON title.
Tunisia, a familiar foe and strong contender on the continental stage, will likely be Nigeria’s toughest opposition in the group.
The two teams last met in the 2021 AFCON, where Tunisia knocked out the Super Eagles with a 1-0 victory.
Uganda and Tanzania, both determined sides, will also add to the challenge, ensuring no match in this group is to be taken lightly.
Nigeria will aim for redemption after finishing as runners-up in the 2023 tournament, where they lost to hosts Ivory Coast in the final.
The tournament will be held across nine stadiums in Morocco, adding an exciting backdrop to what promises to be a highly competitive edition of the prestigious competition.
