Six years ago Reuben Gabriel was an AFCON title winner and will later go on to feature at the FIFA World Cup the following year; he was an important squad player in the Super Eagles.
Gabriel moved from the NPFL to Europe leveraging on his performances during that successful stint with the Eagles.
From Scotland to Belgium and then Portugal, he quickly became a journey man; the Midfielder struggled.
These days he’s living his playing days quitely for the modest Saudi Professional League side Abha FC.
Last season, Abha FC won the first division title to gain promotion to the top flight. They acquired the services of the Nigerian who was a free Agent.
So far this season the former Enyimba and Kano Pillars man has made seven appearances in the SPL, including one on Sunday Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium against Al Feiha.
The out-of-favor Super Eagles midfielder played all 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw. But they’ve managed to pick only 8 points from the first seven games of the season.
