Advisory committee to come up with camp sites for athletes; Sports Minister reveals

The Honourable Minister for Sports, Mr Sunday Dare has come out to shed more light in the advisory committee setup ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo next year, revealing that within the next couple of weeks, they should come up with the camping sites for the various qualified athletes, as Nigeria will be participating in just 11 sporting events.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Mr. Dare also added they also have a work plan which they intend to follow with a specific timeline, while also helping to see other sports qualify as there would be no wild cards like in the time past.

“The committee set up is normal especially any year we have the Olympics in sight. The membership is drawn from the NOC and the relevant directors in the ministry who are familiar with the sports terrain in the country”, the Minister stated.

“They have a work plan which they intend to follow with a specific timeline, and one of the most important things they come up with was to narrow the country’s participation to just 11 sporting activities, as well as listing athletes who have qualified, while also talking about having other sports qualify”

“We expect that in the next couple of weeks, they will get down to the details as to the camping sites, those that will be done in the country as well as those to be done outside the country”, he concluded.
