Ademola Lookman was given a rare start by Red Bull Leipzig Coach Julian Nagelsmann in their UEFA Champions League win over Zenith Saint Petersburg on Wednesday.
Lookmon has been in and out of the team since his summer arrival from Everton, with German striker Timo Werner preferred to lead the attack.
The 22-year-old Anglo-Nigerian, however, made his Champions League debut at Red Bull Arena and lasted for 70th minutes as the German side came from behind to beat the Russian 2-1.
Yaroslav Rakitskiy put the Russians in front in the 25th minute, but Konrad Laimer restored parity for the Germans in the 49th minute.
Marcel Sabitzer scored the match-winning goal moments before the hour mark after benefitting from Lukas Klostermann’s assist.
The game is only the third start for Lookman since joining from Everton and will hope to keep his starting role when Leipzig take on Freiburg in a league game on Saturday.
