Former Nigeria international, Duke Udi has showered praises on Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, lauding his sportsmanship and unique qualities on and off the pitch.
According to Udi, Lookman is a rare gem in the national team setup.
In an interview on Brila FM’s “No-holds-Barred,” with Ifeanyi Udeze, the ex-Slovan Bratislava star described Lookman as a model for other players, particularly those who disrespect fans or talk too much.
“One player I admire in the Super Eagles team is Ademola Lookman,” Udi stated.
“For a long time, I haven’t seen a player like him in the squad. Lookman is very quiet, and cool-headed and allows his football to do the taking.
“I don’t know if it’s because he was born in Europe, but his attitude is different.”
Lookman has enjoyed a stellar year, delivering standout performances for both club and country.
At his first AFCON in February, he scored three goals and provided an assist, helping Nigeria reach the final. His impact at Atalanta has been equally remarkable.
The forward etched his name in history by scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, leading Atalanta to their first-ever triumph in the competition.
That feat made him the first player to score three goals in a Europa League final.
His achievements didn’t go unnoticed as Lookman finished 14th in the Ballon d’Or rankings and is now a leading contender to win the prestigious award this December, potentially succeeding his compatriot Victor Osimhen.
Beyond his on-pitch success, Udi emphasized Lookman’s character as a significant part of his appeal. Not only his achievements but has a very cool and gentle person, just doing his business on the pitch.
This season, Lookman has already scored eight goals and five assists in all competitions for Atalanta, further underlining his importance to the team.
