Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman is reportedly considering a move away from the Serie A club during the January transfer window, reigniting transfer speculation.
The Nigeria international, who has been in excellent form for Atalanta, may be seeking a return to the Premier League where he previously featured for clubs like Everton and Fulham before making the switch to Italy.
Lookman enjoyed a standout campaign last season, capping it off with a remarkable hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League final.
His heroics secured Atalanta’s first-ever European silverware, cementing his place as one of the club’s key players.
Following that triumph, Lookman became a sought-after talent, with transfer links to major European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.
During the summer window, the 26 year-old was reportedly keen to leave Atalanta. Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini admitted that Lookman’s desire to move on came as a surprise, but no deal materialized.
Lookman’s frustration was evident when he missed a few league matches following Atalanta’s UEFA Super Cup appearance.

However, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Lookman continued to deliver on the pitch.

Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Lookman remains open to exploring new opportunities and could push for a transfer in January.
The report suggests Atalanta may now consider letting him go if their €25-30 million valuation is met.

Despite the transfer saga, Lookman has been in impressive form this season. So far, he has recorded three goals and three assists across all competitions for Atalanta.
His performances for Nigeria have been equally impressive. During the AFCON qualifiers, he scored twice, although two of his goals were controversially disallowed.
As the January window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Lookman will secure a move or continue his journey with Atalanta.
His growing reputation has also made him a frontrunner for the African Player of the Year award, and he was recently nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Lookman’s next chapter could see him leave Italy, but wherever he plays, his ability to make an impact is undeniable.
