Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has disclosed that he has spoken with Tosin Adarabioyo about the possibility of representing Nigeria internationally. However, the Chelsea defender has yet to make a decision.
According to Iwobi, Adarabioyo is looking for a national team that can offer him consistent playing time and stability.
Born in England to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo is eligible to represent both England and Nigeria.
The Nigeria Football Federation has approached him in the past, but he declined the opportunity to play for the West African nation.
Reports suggest that Adarabioyo would prefer to represent England over Nigeria, though his continued omission from the England squad has kept his international future a subject of media speculation.
“He’s a great player, and I know his qualities, having played both with and against him,” Iwobi told Making of Champions. “We would love to have him on the team, but ultimately, it’s his decision.
“I’ve spoken to him about playing for Nigeria, but he mentioned that he wants a team where he can have stability and secure a regular spot.
“At the end of the day, the choice is his. I’m sure he’s happy at Chelsea, a big club. As long as he’s enjoying his football, that’s what matters.”
Iwobi and Adarabioyo previously played together at Fulham before the former Manchester City defender move to Chelsea.
