Sevilla FC have suffered a major setback in their quest to climb the La Liga standings, with striker Akor Adams ruled out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season due to a hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old Nigerian forward has been diagnosed with a rectus femoris muscle injury in his right thigh.
Sevilla’s medical team confirmed that Adams has begun rehabilitation, but with a recovery timeline of at least two months, his season is effectively over.
Adams arrived at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán from French side Montpellier on January 27 in a €5.5 million move and has made four La Liga appearances—three as a substitute and one start, which came in the clash against Atlético Madrid on April 6.
Head coach García Pimienta expressed his frustration over the loss of key players, including Adams.
“I feel really bad for Akor. It looks like he will be out for several weeks, and we will see if he can return before the end of the season. The worst thing for a player is being injured and unable to help the team. Akor brought something different in his first start, especially after spending several weeks sidelined,” Pimienta highlighted.
Adams’ absence adds to Sevilla’s injury concerns, with fellow January signing Rubén Vargas also ruled out for weeks following an injury sustained in the same match. Long-term absentee Tanguy Nianzou continues to remain sidelined. The trio will all be unavailable for Sevilla’s upcoming clash with Valencia at the Mestalla.
