Kano Pillars FC’s Technical Adviser, Usman Shariff Abdallah, has expressed concern over Bayelsa United’s attacking prowess as both teams prepare to face off in their NPFL match this weekend.
Abdallah’s team will travel to Yenagoa for their matchday two fixture in the new season.
Despite Bayelsa United’s struggle last season, Abdallah is wary of their potent attack, which made them the highest-scoring team in the league.
“Last season, despite Bayelsa United being at the bottom of the table during the first stanza, they scored the highest number of goals, and many people overlooked that fact,” the former Super Eagles Assistant Coach noted.
Abdallah, who recently took over as head coach of Kano Pillars, kicked off his tenure with an impressive 3-0 victory against Ikorodu City.
The coach explained his defensive philosophy, which he credits for his team’s strong start to the season.
“In my philosophy, unlike other coaches, I’m more focused on not conceding goals. My team is always built from the back, whether we’re attacking or defending. I always ensure our defense is solid,” Abdallah explained.
Kano Pillars will look to secure consecutive wins when they face Bayelsa United, this Sunday, at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
A win would mark a strong start to the season for Abdallah’s side.
