Nigeria’s Temitope Adeshina finished in second place in the women’s high jump final, Sunday, in the African Athletics Championship in Douala.
Adeshina cleared a height of 1.84 meters, finishing second to Ghana’s Rose Yeboah, who claimed gold with a jump of 1.87 meters.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 400m final, Samuel Ogazi came in third with a time of 45.47 seconds.
The race was won by Cheikh Tidiana Tiouf of Senegal, who finished in 45.23 seconds, followed by Lee Eppie of Botswana, who took silver in 45.39 seconds.
Nigerian national champion Dubem Amene had a disappointing run, finishing seventh with a time of 46.27 seconds.
In the women’s 400m event, Nigeria’s Esther Joseph also earned a bronze medal, completing the race in 51.94 seconds.
South Africa’s Miranda Coetzee won the gold with a time of 51.16 seconds, and Qincy Malekani of Zambia secured silver in 51.56 seconds.
