A Disaster! Cassano Fears Osimhen’s Future Transfer Could Be Messier

Former Italian international Antonio Cassano has sharply criticized Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis for his handling of Victor Osimhen’s transfer situation, calling it a “disaster.”

Speaking on “Viva El Futbol” alongside Lele Adani and Nicola Ventola, the former Inter Milan forward argued that Osimhen and his agent took advantage of De Laurentiis’ mistakes.

Cassano pointed out that the Napoli president’s missteps allowed the player and his agent to secure favorable terms.

Despite an agreement between Chelsea and Napoli for Osimhen’s transfer, the Nigerian striker refused the move.

Napoli had intended to use the expected €70 million transfer fee to offset the €30 million cost of signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

However, the collapse of the deal left Napoli in a difficult financial position, while Osimhen secured a loan move to Galatasaray with his €11 million annual salary guaranteed.

“Osimhen? A disaster, a bloodbath. De Laurentiis made an important transfer market and deserves credit, but he made a disaster with Osimhen,” Cassano said.

“I remember what he said to the Arabs last year, and this year he asked for 5 million more, and everything fell through.

“Now Osimhen goes on loan to Galatasaray, but next year we’ll be back to square one.”

Prior to his move to Galatasaray, Osimhen forced Napoli to lower his release clause from €120 million to €75 million.

Cassano praised this move, Saying, “The agent and Osimhen rightly dug in their heels; finally someone in Naples did it.

“De Laurentiis made a bloodbath; he should have sold him immediately after the Scudetto.”
