Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes the Ibrox Chiefs should not hesitate to bring back Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun, if the opportunity arises.
The Gers released Balogun in June following the expiration of his contract, but they are struggling to shut out opponents at the moment.
The poor run of form cost manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst his job, and Michael Beale, who is currently managing Balogun at Queens Park Rangers is among the frontrunners for the vacant post.
Beale is not new to the environment as he once worked as Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers, and reports suggests he may want to bring Balogun back to the Ibrox.
Speaking on the club’s link with Balogun, Ally McCoist said, the Nigerian international has what it takes help to help solve Rangers defensive problem.
“A lot of agreements need to fall into place, but Balogun could certainly be a handy addition for Rangers again given their current defensive injury problems,” McCoist said, as reported by Evening Glasgow Times.
Balogun signed a one-year contract with QPR in August 2022, after leaving Rangers.
The 34-year-old will be available for free transfer at the end of the season.
