Paul Onuachu could finally get his dream move to one of Europe’s top five leagues when the transfer window reopen in January.
Aston Villa are said to be interested in the lanky forward who is currently tied to Belgian Jupiler league leaders KRC Genk.
According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Aston Villa’s manager Unai Emery want to strengthen his attack with the signing of natural number nine and Onuachu is said to be his first choice.
Onuachu, has been in good form since signing for Genk three years ago, netting 82 goals in just 127 appearances.
The Nigeria international has 14 goals in 15 matches for Wouter Vrancken’s Genk before the World Cup break, and he’s currently the leading scorer in the division.
Onuachu has a contract with Genk until 2024, and he’s valued at £20m by the Club, but Genk’s Director Dimitri De Conde insists the striker is happy to remain at the Club and they’ll like to keep him, at least until the end of the season.
While Onuachu is pivotal to Genk’s ambition of winning the league this season, it is unclear if De Conde will stand in his way if Villa tables the right offer.
