Nigeria’s U17 Women NT midfielder Aderemi Mary revealed the team felt disappointed in their opening group game defeat to Germany at the World Cup on Tuesday, but insists the players gave everything.
Nigeria started their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign with a 2-1 defeat to European Champions, Germany, at the Pandit Jawaharlal Stadium in Goa.
The Flamingos took the lead from a free-kick on the half hour mark through Miracle Usani.
However, the Nigerian girls relinquished their lead five minutes after the restart the second as Svea Stoldt equalized for Germany.
The turn around was completed just past the hour mark, when Mara Alber netted her side’s second goal.
Reacting to the result, Aderemi Mary said, it wasn’t a bad outing from the girls.
She however promised, they’ll be back and better in the next game.
‘Always an honour to play for Nigeria. Not the result we wanted, but a good game and we would build on it.
“We will be back and better on Friday in our next game against New Zealand.”
