Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq will undergo surgery on his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament on Thursday, Real Sociedad confirmed.

The Basque-Based Club confirmed in a statement on their official website Tuesday afternoon, that the striker will be operated on by Dr. Mikel Sánchez at Gastiez.

Umar will commence his rehabilitation immediately and will not be available for selection for the rest of the season.

“Sadiq Umar will undergo surgery for the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee by Dr. Mikel Sánchez next Thursday, September 15, in Gasteiz”, The club confirmed.

Umar who is Real Sociedad’s record signing sustained the injury against Getafe last weekend.

Umar opened his goal account for the club against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium and featured in the victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford last Thursday.
