Calvin Bassey is in contention for a place in Ajax Amsterdam squad for their Champions League tie against Liverpool at the Anfield on Tuesday.

Bassey injured his calf during weekend’s Eredivisie clash with Heerenveen and was substituted with six minutes left on the clock.

There were concerns about his fitness ahead of the trip to Anfield, however the defender shook off the injuy and has now been included in the squad to face Liverpool.

He was named in the club’s 24-man squad for the game and he’s now in contention to start the game.

Bassey featured in the European elite football competition for the first last week against Glasgow Rangers.

He completed 90 minutes and assisted one of the goals as the Dutch Champions walloped his former Club 4-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
