Is the Serie A tougher than Dessers expected?
242
Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers is not having it easy in the Serie A since his move from Belgian side Genk.
The striker signed for Cremonese in a €7m deal, and much was expected from last season’s Europa Conference League top scorer, but he’s currently struggling to deliver the goals.
He was in action, Sunday, against Sassuolo but once again, the Forward couldn’t find the back of the net.
The 27-year-old’s has now gone six matches without a goal this season.
His last goals were scored for former club Genk, during a 3-1 win over Standard Liege in July.
The game against Sassuolo was his fourth of the season for Cremonese, although he did manage to get the ball inside the net, but it was later ruled out for offside.
While Dessers is still waiting for first maiden goal for Cremonese, his compatriot David Okereke has hit the ground running.
Okereke, like Dessers joined Cremonese this summer and he has scored two goals in five league games.
Cremonese have only picked a point from a possible eighteen and are currently rooted in the relegation zone.
For the club to experience a turn around in the league, they need Dessers to settle down and rediscover his goal scoring form, perhaps starting with the visit to Bergamo, where they’ll face Atalanta.
