Osimhen refuses to set goal target for the season

Victor Osimhen refuses to set a goal target for himself, but insists, that he really wants to do well for the team.

Osimhen scored 14 league goals last season as Partenopei finished third and qualified for UEFA Champions League.

The Nigerian forward started the new campaign with a bang, scoring one goal and assisting another in the Partenopei’s 5-2 over Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi.

“I’m really happy, it was important to start well. Spalletti trusts me and we are on good terms,” Osimhen told DAZN.

“I am not the kind of player who sets a target for goals. I want to help the team by scoring, the team comes first.

New signing Kvaratskhelia also got his name on the scoresheet on his debut, and Osimhen insists he has the right chemistry with the forward.

“Kvaratskhelia? Two minutes before the goal, he told me that he expected me to score. We are on good terms, I’ve been here for three years and am helping him settle in. We’ve seen what kind of player he is.”

Osimhen will be aiming to continue his fine form when Napoli hosts Monza at the Stadio Maradona in the second match of the season next week.

Their third game is away at Fiorentina on Sunday, August 28.
