Jose Peseiro admits there is plenty of work to be done, following the Super Eagles’ hard-fought win over Sierra Leone.
Peseiro won his first competitive game in charge of the team, but it was done in a very hard way.
The three-time African Champions came back from a goal down to beat Sierra Leone 2-1 in the opening match of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Abuja.
John Morsay gave the visitors an early lead, but a goal from Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen snatched the maximum points for the Eagles.
Speaking after the game, Peseiro said:
“We are better than Sierra Leone in this game, we deserve to win. We changed the setup in the second half, I think it was only the last 10 minutes our opponent had some good moments.”
“We created a lot of scoring chances, we could have won with a bigger margin, but the team needs more time and we must work.” He said.
Next for Peseiro and his boys is a trip to Morroco where they’ll face Sao Tome and Principe in their second game.
