Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo was the star of the show as he gave the assist for the goal that sealed Rangers’ progress to the semi-final following the 3-1 win over Braga in Thursday’s Europa League game.
Aribo played from the start and ran the midfield for the Gers, who recovered from a goal deficit in the first leg to win 3-2 on aggregate.
The Nigeria international set up James Tavernier for Rangers’ opening goal in the second minute.
He played another superb pass to Keema Roofe who beat the goalkeeper, but the wood work kept out his effort.
Aribo’s compatriot Calvin Bassey was instrumental in Rangers second goal of the game.
The left back played a long ball to Roofe, who was later brought down in the box for a penalty. Captain James Tavernier stepped up and scored the kick.
David Carmo’s header then halved the deficit in the second half to send the game into extra time.
Aribo was substituted in the 106th minute for Fashion Sakala after an impressive display. Then Leon Balogun came on for Borna Barisic and he gave a good account of himself.
Roofe however got the winner for Rangers in the extra time. It is first time Rangers will qualify for European semifinal in 14-years.
