Samuel Chukwueze has revealed what his coach Unai Emery told when he was coming on against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Chukwueze became the hero for the Yellows as he scored the goal that qualified them for the UEFA Champions League semifinal.
The 23-year-old was introduced to the game in the 82nd minute and scored with his second touch of the game in the 88th minute.
The goal canceled out Robert Lewandowski’s opener and handed Villarreal a semifinal ticket with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Asked what he was told by Coach Unai Emery, before stepping onto the pitch, Chukwueze said.
“He told me if you have the ball or you don’t, just run,” he said.
On the how he felt to score and knock Bayern Munich out of the competition, The Nigerian international said :
“I’m happy it went in”
“I just want to hit it so it will just enter. I didn’t want to waste any time; I just wanted to feel the moment, but it just happened.”
Villarreal won the Europa League last season and they’ll face Liverpool in the semi-final next.
Chukwueze has featured in 27 games across all competitions and has scored six goals.
