Ecuador will engage the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Tunisia as part of their build-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The South Americans are drawn in the same Group as Senegal, Qatar and Netherlands at the FIFA 2022 World Cup.
Ecuador will host Nigeria in the United States in June and it’ll be the second friendly game lined up for the Tricolors in that international window.
Head Coach of Ecuador Gustavo Alfaro explained the reason behind picking Nigeria as Opponent in their World Cup build up.
“I asked for African rivals because we can’t play with European teams because they are not available,” the Argentine told ESPN Ecuador.
The Tricolors are aiming to impress at the World Cup and it is important to test themselves against an West African opposition, so they have a feel of what to expect from the Teranga Lions of Senegal.
Super Eagles on the other hand failed to qualify for the tournament after losing to the Black Stars of Ghana in the qualification playoff.
