SAFA close to naming new Banyana Banyana coach

The SAFA Search Committee met on Thursday, 29 June 2017 at SAFA House to finalise the identification and recommend the suitable candidate for the position of the Women’s Senior National Team coach.

The committee sifted through a huge number of candidates from all over the world who applied for the job and narrowed the list to four aspirants.

One successful candidate will be named in two weeks time and will start preparing the Banyana Banyana team for the Women COSAFA CUP tournament that will take place in Zimbabwe from 13-24 September.

The Committee reaffirmed the principle that all women national teams will be coached by women coaches and that only the best candidate will be appointed for the Banyana Banyana position whether she is a local candidate or foreign.

“What the committee reaffirmed is that only the best candidate should preside over our Senior Women’s National Team,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.

“We had to go through a massive list of candidates who applied from all over the world and we should be in a position to name the new Banyana Banyana coach in the next 14 days,” added the SAFA President.
