Aribo, Balogun and Calvin Bassey flop in Old Firm Derby

Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey tasted defeat with Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

The Super Eagles stars started for Glasgow Rangers against city rivals Celtic at the Ibrox, but they couldn’t save the Gers from defeat in front of their fans.

Rangers had a bright start to the game, when Aaron Ramsey put them in front after three minutes, But Celtic found a way back as Tom Rogic levelled from their first real attack in the four minutes after going behind.

Celtic did take the lead before the break largely from a mistake by John Lundstram.

The Rangers man failed to clear the danger from the free-kick and Cameron Carter-Vickers showed great composure to take the ball down before firing home.

Rangers tried to pile on some pressure in the closing stages with Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe coming close, but they could not find the equaliser to maintain their unbeaten home record and keep up the pace on leaders Celtic.

Following the defeat, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men have now lost their unbeaten home run and are six points behind Celtic with six games left of the regular season.
