Wilfred Ndidi is now a major doubt for Nigeria’s FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Ghana.
The midfielder was substituted in the second half of Leicester City’s Europa League clash against French side Rennes on Thursday night.
Speaking after the game, Leicester City boss Brenda Rodger said, Ndidi injured his medial ligament and will be assessed by the medical team .
“Ndidi, it was a block tackle, his medial ligament in his knee, we’ll see how that is. But it has been us for most of the season. We lost a couple of players just before we were travelling as well but the guys showed tremendous spirit to get through the tie.” He said.
This means, Ndidi could spend at least three weeks to four weeks on the sideline and might not be available for the Ghana-Nigeria game.
The first leg is slated for 25th, while the second leg will be played four days later.
