The Women’s FA Cup final will be held on a separate date the Men’s Final as part of plans to re-structure of the competition according to NFF 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi.
Akinwunmi said the women’s version of the FA Cup had dwelt for to long in the shadows of the Men’s and needed to be elevated.
On Wednesday, the NFF signed an agreement with Aiteo as name sponsors of the FA Cup and the move is set to improve the quality of organization.
The five-year deal will cover participation fees and prize money, but importantly it will add value to club football in Nigeria the FA Chief stressed.
‘We must congratulate ourselves…we’re planning to have a separate final for the Women FA Cup. It used to be a side attraction to the Men’s final, but that must change.
Though no kick off date has been announced yet, Akinwunmi told brila.net that the body incharge of the Aiteo FA Cup will delibrate on a date for teh competition.
‘This is a burden on us to make things better. As far as a kick off date is concerned, the federation board will meet to decide.’
