Randy Waldrum says he is worried about the recent goal drought of Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie in the color of Super Falcons.
The duo have been in good form for their respective Club in Europe, but they haven’t been able to replicate the same form for the National Team.
Asked if he’s worried about their recent drought, Waldrum said:
“What we need to know about our forwards, either Oshoala or Oparanozie. They are with their clubs’ training every day, when people see them scoring goals for their Club and they don’t score as many here, they begin to ask questions, but they have to understand, National team is a different ball game.”
“Obviously we want to see them score goals, but if they are doing well in the position we asked them to play, then it’s fine as long as we are winning. ” He said.
The Super Falcons will slug it out with Ivory Coast for the final stage qualification of the 14th Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Falcons, arguably Africa’s most successful women’s football team, but the Lady Elephants of Ivory Coast, are catching up and they stopped the Falcons from qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics Games.
Speaking ahead of the game, Waldrum stated that they are motivated to do well and won’t leave any stone unturned.
“We are happy about excited to be back and working with some local-based players and our foreign-based player will join us in the future next few days.”
“We know what is at stake and we know the history with the Ivorians, we have respect for them and we will prepare for the game.”
The Falcons would host the Lady Elephants on Friday, Feb. 18th, at the newly refurbished MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The second leg is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Stade Robert Champroux, Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
