Jose Peseiro will no longer be contracted as new Super Eagles as the NFF decided to keep faith with Austin Eguaveon’s led technical crew.
Recalled the NFF reached agreement with the Portuguese to take over the team on permanent basis from interim boss Austin Eguaveon who led the team to the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
However the NFF has now back out on the agreement and opted to keep faith with Eguaveon, while adding Emmanuel Amuneke to the roaster.
The NFF Secretary General, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said the decision was taken in the best interest of the country and he expressed gratitude to the former Venezuela coach for his interest.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the interest that Mr Jose Peseiro has shown in Nigeria Football during our very cordial discussions and have absolutely no doubt about his capacity.”
Dr Sanusi also stressed that, the NFF are not closing the door on Peseiro permanently.
“We believe that perhaps in the future, there could be an opportunity to work with him.” He said.
